[Centrair (Nagoya International Airport) to Hotels in Nagoya Downtown]

You can use an express train from the airport (Centrair) to the Nagoya main station, which takes about 30 minutes. From the Nagoya main station, you may use a taxi. But, actually, most of my guests so far preferred to use a subway called "Higashiyama Line" (yellow line). You should take an east-bound train and drop off at the next station, "Fushimi" or "Sakae" depending on the location of your hotel at downtown.

[Haneda Airport to Nagoya]

I recommend you to go from Haneda to Shinagawa and use Shinkansen "Bullet Train" from Shinagawa to Nagoya Main Station. At Haneda Airport you can easily find a booth for JR trains where you have to buy a reserved ticket for Shinkansen from Shinagawa to Nagoya (Downtown). 2 tickets will be issued (one is for train ride, the other is for express fee) and cost about 11,500Yen in total which covers from Haneda to Shinagawa and to Nagoya Downtown, and includes express fee and reservation fee. (Shinagawa Station is not a terminal station, and thus, you will not find a vacant non-reserved sheet.) From Haneda, DO NOT use Mono-Rail trains that go to Hamamatsu-Cho.

I recommend you not to bring an huge luggage since you will have to put your luggage on a luggage rack just above your seat or in front of your feet in Shinkansen trains.

[Nagoya (Central) Station to Hotel Mielparque]

At JR Nagoya Main Station you will switch to "Chuo Line" to go to Chikusa Station which is the nearest to Hotel Mielparque Nagoya. When you switch to Chuo Line at Nagoya, you have to go through an internal gate in JR station where one of your train ticket (i.e., express fee) will be taken. You will use the other ticket to go out from the gate at Chikusa Station.

[Hotels in Downtown to Nagoya University]

From the hotel to our university (in the outskirts of the city), it takes about 20 minutes by subway. When you are staying in Fushimi or Sakae, you should go to subway station "Fushimi" or "Sakae" to use the subway called "Higashiyama Line" (yellow line) and change to "Meijo Line" (purple line) at "Motoyama Station", then the next stop is Nagoya Daigaku (i.e., Nagoya University), if you correctly get in a south-bound train (i.e., clock-wise direction, since Meijo line is a circle). Nagoya Daigaku station is just in the middle of our campus.

[Hotel Mielparque to Nagoya University]

From the hotel to our university (in the outskirts of the city), it takes about 15 minutes by subway. When you come to Nagoya University from Hotel Mielparque Nagoya, you should go to subway station Chikusa to use the subway called "Higashiyama Line" (yellow line) and change to "Meijo Line" (purple line) at "Motoyama Station", then the next stop is Nagoya Daigaku (i.e., Nagoya University), if you correctly get in a south-bound train (i.e., clock-wise direction, since Meijo line is a circle). Nagoya Daigaku station is just in the middle of our campus.

Probably, it's a good idea to buy a pre-paid IC card for subway, called "MANACA". Once you charge some money (say, a few thousand yen), you don't have to buy a ticket at each time but simply touch the card at gates when you take trains.
